Samuel Judge Hughes

August 2023 Academic Outstanding Student

Samuel Judge Hughes is a sophomore BIT major with a CGPA of 3.62. He is from Arlington, Virginia and he enjoys playing sports, studying, and food. Additionally, he is a wide receiver on the football team. Samuel says the best part about being a black male student is the ability to spend out and make friends with everyone. He has found that being a black male gives him the opportunity to make friends with people of all ethnicities. Since there is a low population of black students in school, it is kind of a skeleton key when it comes to his friend groups. He also believes that his academic performance has made him stand out and given him more attention from instructors.

Samuel’s post-graduation aspirations are to get into dental school and become a dentist, and his personal dream in life is to have and support a large family. He really wants to leave a legacy behind and that is the driving force behind what he does. He says his role model is his great grandpa. While he never got to meet him, his family visits his farm in Alabama every summer. His grandfather was known in his town as “Judge”, as he was the person whom people would go to settle their disputes.

Samuel is affiliated primarily with football because it takes up so much of his time. However, besides that, he is involved in the CRU and CFF ministries.
