Kaleena Smith

Assistant Director

Kaleena Smith is the assistant director of the Student Success Center who coordinates the Presidential Scholarship Initiative (PSI) and the Presidential Campus Enrichment Grant (PCEG), two scholarships designed to provide opportunities for first generation college students and those from traditionally underserved communities with structured academic support to foster their success.

Originally from rural West Virginia, Kaleena came to Blacksburg to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology but stayed for the close-knit community. Now a two-time Hokie with a Masters in Instructional Design and Technology, Kaleena is excited to continue her ties with Virginia Tech in this role of supporting scholarship students and guiding them throughout their own academic journey in a place she calls home.

When not working, Kaleena enjoys reading, spending time with her family, playing tennis, and volunteering in her children’s school as a PTA board member
