Emmanuel Ojo

Emmanuel Ojo is a Graduate Assistant for the Peer Academic Coaching program in the Student Success Center.  Emmanuel is a master's Student in the Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education at Virginia Tech. He received his bachelor's degree in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. Before coming to the United States, Emmanuel worked for two years as an Agricultural Extension officer where he had the opportunity to design and implement educational initiatives within an informal education framework. His focus was on facilitating the transfer of agricultural knowledge and skills to youths, farmers, and community members by developing customized educational programs to address their specific needs and challenges. He also conducted workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions centered on sustainable farming practices, crop management, and adopting new agricultural technologies. His current research is focused on understanding the Effectiveness of Humanitarian Peacebuilding Efforts in Nigeria: A Case Study of Catholic Relief Services’ Efforts to Resolve Farmer-Herder Conflicts.

Beyond Emmanuel's deep enthusiasm for Agriculture and International Development, he is equally passionate about fostering personal and academic growth. He believes in empowering students to achieve holistic success in their academic pursuits and is dedicated to providing the necessary support and guidance. Emmanuel is excited about his role at the Student Success Center, as it allows him to fulfill his passion for helping students succeed academically and beyond. He is committed to creating an environment where students can thrive, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential.
