Victor Kimani Mukora

Victor Kimani Mukora is originally from Kenya but has lived in Richmond, VA most of his life. He is a graduating senior majoring in computational modeling and data analytics and pursuing minors in data and decisions, statistics, and mathematics. Victor has a GPA of 3.747. He has done some nanoscience classes that are most relevant to his interest in solar energy. Generally, he is extremely passionate about utilizing computer science to enhance solar energy but more specifically using technologies like Machine learning, data analytics, high-performance computing, nanotechnology, and even quantum computing to optimize solar energy is of immense value to him. Victor’s post-Virginia tech aspiration is to gain diverse, broad, varied but yet deep experience in the solar energy sector in tandem with his other interest in national/cyber security, computer science, or data science. His professional and career dream is to own a startup company with a team of collaborators who are united with the same vision of applying computer science to make solar energy as affordable and efficient as possible.

Victor says the best thing about being a black male student at Virginia Tech is the fact that his Kenyan heritage varies naturally enhances and blends in incredibly well with his research, passion, academics, and professional life. He says that his ultimate role model and hero in his life is the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This is because his faith in the Lord Jesus has anchored him throughout his entire life, he has seen Jesus do miracles in his life, heal people and seen him deliver people like him, and forgive people when they don’t deserve it; more importantly, he has seen Jesus unconditionally love people to greater transformation and glory in Him.

During his free time, he likes being driven around to and from, especially seeing the city lights late at night. He also enjoys reading and relaxing. Victor is a member of Chi Alpha where he co-leads life groups with multiple members.
