September 2023 Academic Outstanding Student

Fasil Gebreab is from Arlington, Virginia but was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopa. He is currently pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering but focusing on General Electrical Engineering (EE). He has a CGPA of 3.69.

In his free time, he enjoys reading classical, non-fiction, self-help, and sci-fi books and watching movies, series shows, and soccer. I also like hiking and doing photography whenever he travels to new places and learn about their culture and lifestyles. Fasil is also passionate about circuit design, and he is constantly seeking new ways to learn and develop his abilities. He firmly believes in the value of teamwork and that cooperation is the key to success, hence his devotion and diligence.

Fasil says it is an incredible experience to be a black male student at Virginia Tech. He is surrounded by other Hokies who are ambitious and strive to be the best. Additionally, being a black male student at Virginia Tech empowers him in engineering and inspires him to do better in his academics and be more organized. His post-Virginia Tech aspiration is to work in any company that does circuit designing and then advance to a leadership position so that he can help others with everything he knows or can. Also, he intends to get both his master's and Ph.D. degrees. He says his family, especially his parents, are his role models. Considering that his parents taught him what he knows about the world by setting a good example.
