Yasser Hassan
January 2023 Academic Outstanding Student
Yasser Hassan is from Northern Virginia but originally from Sudan and is a senior in Electrical Engineering with a 3.59 GPA. He was born in Northern Virginia but moved to Sudan during 2nd grade and came back to America for college. Yasser says the interesting thing about being a black male at Virginia Tech is the fact that his skin color empowers him to do more and thrive in his studies. During his free time, he enjoys playing and watching football (soccer) and playing video games.
He is a member of MAOP, MSA IEEE, and AMC at Virginia Tech. He hopes to start a job straight out of college and start gaining some industrial experience. Yasser’s career goal is to be able to work at/own a Robotics company and in addition, to continue playing football. His role model is his father because he came to America with nothing and was able to create a living and sustain a family.
