Jordan Walker

May 2023 Academic Outstanding Student

Jordan Walker is a freshman studying general engineering with an interest in civil engineering. He is from Lynchburg, Virginia, and with a CGPA of 3.6. He is very interested in America’s infrastructure, which is his main reason for pursuing civil engineering. Jordan says being an engineer excites him because he can make a change in people’s daily lives, and he hopes that one day he will own a construction company that builds safe and eco-friendly roadways.

Jordan says the best thing about being a black male at Virginia Tech is the sense of accomplishment, knowing that he is succeeding and getting his education, and using the opportunity that he was given well. His post-Virginia Tech aspiration is to work in America’s infrastructure and eventually own a construction company that builds safe and eco-friendly roadways. He is also affiliated with VT steel Bridge.

Jordan says his role models are his parents because they always do what is right and many times put others before themselves. Also, they own their businesses and run countless community outreach programs. In his free time, he loves going to the gym, reading the bible, playing outdoor sports such as football, basketball, and frisbee with his friends, and often helping his parents with their outreach ministries along with his church.
