January 2024 Academic Outstanding Student

Joseph Moore is a sophomore undergraduate. He is working towards a bachelor’s degree in business and information technology, with a specialization in Cybersecurity. He has a CGPA of 3.55. Beyond his academic pursuits, he is deeply dedicated to societal contribution, saying that he aims to use his skills and experience to provide help for others in need. He strives to be a confident role model in the black community at VT and enjoys working with others toward his goals. Joseph’s post-graduate goals are to use his technological and team-empowering capabilities to help create a better society. He hopes to utilize this for his interest in exploring the tech consultant field and providing services to many companies and clients. His idea as a passionate project during his academic career is to conduct undergraduate research linking business management methods on employees and psychology, and how businesses can reduce retention in the workplace.

Joseph’s inspiration is his mom and dad, who work hard every day and strive for him to always do his best and put himself out there. They taught him to always move forward with determination and resilience for whatever courses or obstacles life may have standing in the way. Outside of work, he likes to run, golf, read books, build computers, play video games, and watch cartoons and anime.
