Dagmawi Workayehu is a senior at Virginia Tech pursuing a dual degree in Fintech & Big Data Analytics and Finance. He has a GPA of 3.58. Dagmawi’s upbringing in both Northern Virginia and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, fosters a global perspective that drives his interest in democratizing finance through technology. He is the youngest of five siblings.
This summer, Dagmawi will be interning at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in their NYC office as a Global Markets Sales and Trading Summer Analyst. This opportunity represents a significant milestone, offering him invaluable hands-on experience in one of the most dynamic areas of finance. Prior to this internship, Dagmawi interned at PricewaterhouseCoopers in their Deals Consulting practice. This experience provided him with a valuable foundation, further fueling his interest in finance.
In addition to his academic and professional pursuits, Dagmawi serves as the Co-CEO of COINS (Commodity Investing for Students), which is the country's only student-run commodity trading group investing 1.3 million dollars of the Virginia Tech endowment.
Dagmawi's academic excellence, diverse internship experiences, and leadership within a significant student-run investment organization paint a picture of a highly motivated and ambitious individual. Post-graduation, Dagmawi aims to not only build a successful career in the trading industry but also pave the way for other Hokies and individuals with similar backgrounds to break into the field.
