Juan Soto

October 2023 Academic Outstanding Student

Juan Soto is from South Florida. He is a Sociology senior with a CGPA of 3.92. He says he has been pushing to meet his goals as soon as possible, which includes education and experience; for this reason, he fought to get into his last college (Florida Atlantic University) at age 13 and has since transferred to Virginia Tech to not only be close to his desired employers, the FBI, but also because of Virginia Tech’s history. He is deeply invested in global affairs, especially in relations to east Asia, and as such, he is working on a minor in Japanese culture and language as a starting point. He says the best thing about being a black male at Virginia Tech has been the instant comradery that comes with meeting other black men on campus. He says black men are all familiar with the challenges they are faced with getting to this stage, and what awaits them beyond that, and so they understand and respect one-another on first contact.

Juan’s post Virginia Tech aspiration is to take the LSAT and apply to law schools to build his JD and further career in Law.
