Hi, I'm Mikaela! I have a dual bachelor's in biology and computer science (from VT), and I'm now a first-year PhD student (studying AI). I tutor organic chemistry and principles of biology. I love the type of reasoning involved in organic chemistry, and I find biology fascinating!
My approach to tutoring is mainly talking things through with you. I start by figuring out where you're at, get you up to speed on things if needed, and then ask you questions or practice problems to make sure you got it or help reinforce it. A couple of my strengths are patience and breaking things down.
Outside of academics, a couple things I like are pickleball and learning about anything that interests me.
I tutor because I find it very rewarding to help people understand complex subjects. When we work together I hope you leave feeling less confused/unsure and more confident than you came in!
