Knack On-Demand Tutoring

Virginia Tech has partnered with Knack, a platform enabling students to book course-specific peer tutoring services. Tutoring is free, and sessions can take place in person or online. For Summer 2026, Knack support is available for all courses pending tutor availability.

All students work for Knack under a 1099 contractor status. Employment as a 1099 employee may result in unintended tax or immigration ramifications. Be sure to consult with your tax or immigration expert prior to employment. International students must be authorized to work in the United States to participate as a Knack tutor. F-1 students at Virginia Tech should note that Knack tutoring is not considered on-campus employment, as it is not performed on-campus or directly through the university.
