Tutoring
Summer tutoring is available to Virginia Tech students through Knack. SSC tutoring will resume in the fall semester after classes begin.
Tutoring is free course-specific support for students who want to improve their academic performance, no matter where they start. Our friendly tutors are undergraduate students who have successfully completed the courses they support at Virginia Tech. There are three easy ways to meet with a tutor.

Student Success Center (SSC) Tutoring
The SSC has supported student learning for over 20 years. Our tutoring program is certified at the highest possible level by CRLA, recognizing our excellence in tutoring practices and training. Our new location, the second floor of Gilbert Place, offers beautiful study areas and private appointment rooms. Our all-undergraduate staff undergoes a rigorous selection and training process. They all come recommended by Virginia Tech faculty, and tutors have taken the courses they support at Virginia Tech. They are friendly, non-judgmental, and truly want to help. You can meet with a tutor by scheduling individual appointments through Navigate during the fall and spring semesters.
SSC Tutoring Program Awarded Top-Level Certification
The College Reading & Learning Association's (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) recognizes our outstanding practices in tutor hiring, training, and evaluation. SSC tutors can become individually certified at three levels. Meet with CRLA-certified tutors at the Student Success Center.
Drop-In Tutoring
Need help quickly? Weekly drop-in tutoring is a great way to connect with SSC tutors for some of our most popular courses. No appointment necessary! Bring your questions or course materials, and tutors will be there to help. We also welcome study groups, including Navigate Study Buddies.
