BMEN Job Shadow Experience 2020

During the Spring 2020 semester, the Student Success Center Black Male Excellence Network, in partnership with Kal Ross Agency and Soulidifly Productions, will host a job shadowing experience. This opportunity will allow four participants in the 2020 Uplifting Black Men Conference to engage in an experiential learning event with one of the following companies:

  • Kal Ross Agency: The Kal Ross Agency is the leading national talent management and sports agency in the country. The Agency's roster includes Super Bowl and NBA champions, NBA All-Stars and Hall of Famers, and the industry's top entertainment personalities. Brokering over six-figure deals for the past two decades for its clients, the Agency continues to push the boundaries in its creative approach and first-in-class client customer service.
  • Rule Enterprise: Rule Enterprise specializes in strategic investing, and uses property development as their primary driver. Everything they do is rooted in Equity, Equality, and Dignity. Brandon Rule, the president of Rule Enterprise, is a Commercial Real Estate Investor and Developer who ensures communities of color are treated with dignity and respect. His investment strategy focuses on projects that fall within the middle market, between $10M-$100M. Between his work as a Commercial Real Estate Investor and his passion for wealth building, Brandon's grand vision is to provide the tools necessary to create sustainable communities while educating communities on how to build generational wealth.
  • Soulidifly Productions: Soulidifly Productions is an American media company founded by retired Verizon Communications executive and film producer B. Keith “BK” Fulton in 2017. It is a film-making, streaming media, media investment, and book and e-magazine publishing company based in Richmond, Virginia.
  • Sterling Motorcars: Sterling Motorcars, located in Sterling, VA, is a group of luxury car dealerships that offers state-of-the-art boutiques for a bespoke car-buying experience commensurate with the premium brands we sell. It is owned by Thomas A. Moorehead, who is the first African American awarded a full-service Rolls Royce franchise, Lamborghini and McLaren dealer. Sterling Motorcars also offers luxury car BMW and Mini dealerships. In addition, Sterling Motorcars has donated over $1.8 million to local students, families, and charitable organizations that grant scholarships to local high school students looking to pursue a college education.

For one day, the students will explore and gain valuable insight about the profession, engage in leadership opportunities, and expand their professional network. In addition, two selected students will get an opportunity to be a special guest of Mr. Kal Ross at the The Meeting of the Minds: Position of Power Seminar II on Thursday, April 23, in Washington, DC. The Meeting of the Minds is a gathering that uniquely combines networking and thoughtful policy discussion on topics affecting minority communities. The goal is to provide a forum for critical conversation on issues often ignored by mainstream media.

We welcome students from all majors to apply for the job shadow experience by completing the 5th Annual Uplifting Black Men Conference Evaluation form. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 6, 2020. If you have questions about the job shadow experience, please email Dr. Michael Williams.
