Sachiel Mondesir comes to us from New York City. He is an Assistant Director in the Student Success Center coordinating the Presidential Campus Enrichment Grant (PCEG), academic support for veterans, serving as advisor for Tau Sigma National Honor Society, and teaching UNIV 1004.
He attended Stony Brook University where he received a B.A in Sociology, an M.A in Liberal Studies, and a Master of Social Work. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Educational Psychology at Virginia Tech. His professional experience includes working at Columbia University and the City University of New York (CUNY).
Sachiel considers himself a thinker. He’s passionate about learning, whether in a formal or informal setting. He chose Virginia Tech for its location and reputation as a top tier public research university. He sees the university’s tagline “Invent the Future” as a commitment to the development of knowledge and being ahead of the curve in academia.
He’s bilingual in English and Haitian-Creole, and reads French proficiently. He enjoys calisthenics, reading, writing, and has an eclectic taste in food and music.
